By Pradip Kundu (TNI Coochbehar) ~ Edited By D. Prasun (TNI Siliguri)
Webdesk, TNI Coochbehar, 23rd August, 2015: The school is there, the computer lab is there, 10 modern desktop PC are also there yet the training is not there. For the last 3 years, there are no classes taking place in this one and only Government Hindi School of Coochbehar District. Complaints have reached the concerned department however not actions has been taken yet said the Head Master of the School Mr. Suraj Bali Pandey. Interestingly the school is as old as 60 years. According to Mr. Pandey, a computer teacher was appointed in the 2004-05 session with additional fees of Rs. 35/- from the parents. Since the students come from BPL families they couldn’t manage the fees. The fees were reduced to Rs. 25/- a month, the condition didn’t change. Later the computer classes closed down completely from the 2011-12 academic session. The headmaster further said that still now at least 300 students of the school want to enroll for the computer classes but due to the lack of teacher and requisite monetary support it is not possible. It is not only the computers, due to the absence of a science laboratory, the science stream classes not be started in the Higher Secondary section. The District School Inspector Balika Gole said that since the computer teacher recruitment is being done through SSC now the problem related to teacher’s absence is going to be solved soon because a post for the computer has been demanded to the School Service Commission.
